At Inner Balance, we take a different approach to hormone care. While many traditional providers rely heavily on lab numbers alone, we focus on something equally important: how you actually feel.
Why We Do Not Require Labs
We do not require labs because we believe you.
If you are experiencing symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, low libido, mood changes, sleep issues, anxiety, weight changes, or other signs of hormone imbalance, that matters. Your symptoms are real, even if a lab report says your numbers are “normal.”
Many conventional hormone ranges were originally created using extremely small population samples and are designed to identify disease states — not optimal wellness. Insurance-based medicine typically focuses on what is considered common, not what is truly optimal for women.
At Inner Balance, we are focused on helping YOU feel your best, not chasing a specific number on a lab report.
“Normal” Does Not Always Mean Optimal
A common misconception is that if hormone labs fall within the standard reference range, everything must be fine.
But hormone optimization works differently.
Many women experience significant symptoms despite having “normal” labs because:
Standard ranges are very broad
Lab ranges are based on averages, not optimal functioning
Most providers are not hormone specialists
Insurance-based medicine focuses on preventing disease, not optimizing wellness
A provider may label a hormone level as “high” or “normal,” while a hormone optimization specialist may recognize that the level is exactly where a woman feels her best.
Your body is unique. What feels optimal for one woman may not feel optimal for another.
Symptoms Matter More Than a Number
Lab values are simply one piece of information. They do not always reflect:
How much hormone is being absorbed at the tissue level
How your body is responding
How you feel day to day
Your energy, mood, sleep, libido, or overall quality of life
This is why we prioritize your experience and symptoms when making treatment decisions.
How you FEEL will always be one of the best indicators of what is right for YOUR body.
If You Choose to Do Labs
While labs are not required, some clients still choose to have them done for personal knowledge or monitoring purposes.
If you plan to complete hormone labs, timing matters.
We Recommend Waiting Until At Least Month 3
Your body needs time to adjust to hormone therapy.
During the first few months:
Hormone levels fluctuate
Your body is adapting
Levels have not fully stabilized yet
Most women reach a more stable “homeostasis” around month 5.
Running labs too early can produce misleading results that do not accurately reflect your long-term therapeutic levels.
Timing Your Labs Correctly
If you are applying hormone cream and immediately complete labs afterward, your numbers may appear artificially elevated because labs can capture a temporary peak.
For more consistent and accurate results:
Wait at least 24–48 hours after application before testing whenever possible
Follow your provider’s instructions regarding timing
Understand that lab timing can significantly impact results
Again, lab numbers alone should never override how you feel clinically.
Our Philosophy on Hormone Care
At Inner Balance, we believe hormone therapy should be individualized.
We are not focused on:
Treating paper numbers
Forcing women into rigid lab ranges
Comparing you to population averages
We ARE focused on:
Listening to your symptoms
Supporting your goals
Monitoring your progress
Helping you regain your quality of life
Hormone optimization is personal, and your treatment should reflect that.
The Bottom Line
Labs can provide information, but they are not the whole picture.
You are more than a number on a report.
Our priority is helping you:
Feel balanced
Feel energized
Feel mentally clear
Feel emotionally stable
Feel like YOU again
We are here to listen, support, and partner with you throughout your journey toward optimal wellness.
