Do You Need to Schedule Breaks from Oestra After Menopause?

Post-Menopause and Bleeding

You do not need to force a period if your body is not naturally having one. It is completely normal not to bleed while using Oestra®, and this does not indicate that anything is wrong.

There are two appropriate ways to approach this, and the choice depends on what feels most comfortable for you:

Option 1: Continuous Use (Body-Led Approach)

You may choose to use the cream continuously and allow your body to guide you. This means continuing Oestra® without planned pauses while paying attention to any symptoms that may suggest your body is preparing to shed the uterine lining.

Possible indicators include:

  • Spotting

  • Cramping

  • Bloating

  • Breast tenderness

If these symptoms develop and do not resolve, you may choose to pause the cream briefly to allow for a withdrawal bleed.

Option 2: Scheduled Pauses (Structured Approach)

If you prefer a more structured routine, you may choose to incorporate occasional pauses every 3 to 4 months.

  • This approach is not medically required, but some women find it more comfortable

  • Even with a scheduled pause, you may not experience any bleeding, and this is still considered a normal response

What Does It Mean If You Don’t Bleed?

Not having a bleed often reflects:

  • Adequate progesterone support

  • A stable, thinner uterine lining

Oestra® is designed to prevent excessive buildup of the uterine lining, so frequent shedding is not necessary.

Summary

You can safely choose the approach that feels best for your body:

  • Continue using Oestra® and follow your body’s natural signals
    or

  • Pause every few months based on personal preference

Both options are appropriate. The focus should be on what feels manageable and supportive for your body, rather than trying to force a cycle.
