Fatigue

Fatigue early on is common and usually temporary. It may relate to thyroid binding (SHBG), low protein, or iodine start‑up. Targeted nutrition and pacing iodine typically resolve it.

Common reasons you may feel tired

  • Thyroid adjustment: A rise in SHBG can temporarily lower free thyroid hormone availability.

  • Iodine start‑up: Daily iodine can cause transient fatigue in some women.

  • Low protein intake: <~100 g/day can sap energy and neurotransmitter production.

If you are not taking iodine

  • Fatigue may be related to higher SHBG.

    What can help:

    • Emphasize 100 g/day protein.

    • Consider a lower‑carb approach or nettle to help reduce SHBG.

    • Thyroid supports: Iodine 1500 mcg (if appropriate) and selenium 200 mcg.

    • Methylated B‑complex (AM) for estrogen metabolism and energy.

    • NAD+ / NMN / NR can support energy and hormone sensitivity.

    • If constipation or water retention show up, ask about checking TSH, Free T3, Free T4.

If you are taking iodine

  • Early fatigue can occur as your body adapts.

    What can help:

    • Pause iodine and reassess energy.

    • If energy improves but breast tenderness returns, re‑introduce iodine slowly (e.g., 1–3×/week) instead of daily.

Good news Fatigue generally resolves as thyroid and hormones settle into a new balance.
