FAQs: Oestra®

Updated over 3 weeks ago

How does Oestra® balance all three hormones?

Oestra™ is designed to prevent the dominance of testosterone or estradiol, a common issue when hormones are given one at a time.

Oestra® supports hormonal balance by restoring estrogen and progesterone, which helps the body naturally rebalance other hormones - including testosterone.

While Oestra® does not contain testosterone, our bodies are highly intelligent and naturally convert some progesterone into testosterone as part of normal hormone physiology. Thanks to Oestra’s high bioavailability (approximately 70%), there is enough progesterone in each dose to support both progesterone needs and the body’s natural testosterone production.

In this way, Oestra® helps create a hormonal environment that supports balance across estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone - without adding testosterone directly.

Can I get pregnant while taking Oestra®?

Yes. Oestra™ is not a form of birth control and it’s possible to get pregnant while on it. We recommend non-oral forms of birth control (such as an IUD) if you are using it alongside Oestra™ .

Can I use Oestra® if I’ve had a hysterectomy?

Yes, absolutely. Progesterone is critical for balancing estradiol throughout the entire body, not just the uterus. It supports the health of your skin, hair, heart, bones, brain, and mood .

Why don't you require lab tests before starting?

Labs are often unreliable due to the constantly fluctuating nature of hormones, and there is no way to predict your optimal dose from a lab test alone. Instead, we start you on a carefully selected dose and adjust based on your real-life symptoms and progress .

What about the FDA Black Box Warning?

The FDA warning is based on outdated studies of synthetic hormones (progestins) and oral estrogen taken without progesterone. It doesn’t account for modern bioidentical therapies like Oestra™, where bioidentical progesterone plays a crucial protective role .

My breasts are very tender. Is this normal?

Yes, this is very common and often a sign of iodine deficiency, which causes fibrocystic breast disease. Starting a daily iodine supplement usually helps alleviate the tenderness within a few weeks .
